Meet Jessica Grzymski, a Public Relations and sport enthusiast who is amazed by the small things in life. Fro-Yo fanatic as well.
Jessica is a recent graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the Public Relations track. She also holds a minor in sports, which she chose to pursue because of her passion growing up watching sports events with her father. She hopes to pursue her dream of a career in the sports world increasing her communication skills.
She is from Northwest Indiana, and has grown up with the major Chicago sports teams on the television. She enjoys going to Wrigley Field in the summer with her family to cheer on the beloved Chicago Cubs.
Her major led her to the opportunity to work for the Ball State University Athletics Media Department where she has learned how to input statistics for sports such as, Basketball and Volleyball. She was able to continue practicing her InDesign and Photoshop skills outside the classroom by cropping photos of athletes for the Ball State sports webpage, and using InDesign to update post-game statistics and athlete bios also for the webpage.
Jessica also had the opportunity to intern for a company called Mixdesign, Inc. the summer of 2015. She gained new knowledge during her time with the company as well as enhanced her Public Relations skills she has learned in the classrooms at Ball State University. This opportunity allowed her to be a part of two major events. One took place at Fair Oaks Farm, which featured the Bacon Brothers band. She assisted in calling meat companies locally and worldwide for sponsorship opportunities, as well as writing press releases, stuffing VIP Bags, and working the event.
From Ball States courses to her internship, Jessica has gained a vast amount of knowledge in social-media, design, writing, strategic planning, and web skills. These tools have helped her to increase her interest and knowledge of the Public Relations field.
